CDRLabs reivew Hammer Storage's Dual Layer 16x DVD?RW

If you haven't heard of Hammer Storage, you're not alone. While once a leading provider of digital storage subsystems, they quietly fell off the radar screen a few years ago. Hammer is making a comeback though. This time around, instead of high-end storage solutions, they have their sights set on the consumer market. Along with their series of Desk Hammer and Pocket Hammer hard drives, they currently offer a growing number of DVD writers.

This spring, Hammer introduced their first internal DVD writer. Featuring support for both the DVD Multi and DVD+ReWritable specifications, it has the ability to write to most major DVD formats, including DVD-RAM. Based on the Panasonic SW-9595, the drive is capable of 16x DVD?R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 4x DVD+R DL writing speeds and a maximum DVD read speed of 16x. On top of that, it can read and write to DVD-RAM media at 5x, the fastest speed currently available.
